Original early century tiles

INTRODUCTION

You are bidding in this wonderful lot of floor mosaic stoneware tiles (quantity detailed in title). Floor tiles are loose as were uninstalled. Cement was carefully removed from reverse so now tiles look splendid and ready for reinstall. These tiles are suitable for door entrances, restorations, and also for coffee table decor. They are in extreme resistant as things done in the past used to be. There are several ways to install again, you can have a pattern done in paper and glue tiles to it so as to get a single larger piece of 10x10 with that larger pieces your contractor can use them as tiles and place in definitive place. Finally remove the glued paper, grout and give a final polish, colors will bright !.

ITEM DESCRIPTION

STYLE: Edwardian
TECHNIQUE:This type of pavement small pieces consisted of round pieces made with porcelain tile, colored, made of a single firing at 1300 º C. This material was a product at the forefront of technological improvements of the time as their technical characteristics allow durability and resistance. The possibilities design by combining the tiles with other colors are almost infinite . This technique is no longer done so you will not find such quality pieces but only in real antique items.
DIMENSIONS: Each tile (we photographed just a few as a sample) has a 0.75 diameter
MARKS: Most pieces have marks of factory on reverse.
APPROXIMATE DATE: ca 1900

ITEM CONDITION These tiles are in very fine condition, no flaws or repairs exist. Cement on reverse was carefully removed so minimal traces are remaining. Surface, as you can see, has a firm color. Only minimal scratches and tiny chips may be seen, most of them on edges but that is hidden with grouting and polishing when reinstalling. Nothing for a more than 100 year old architectural piece.
If you are buying many of them and you want a picture to have a look of the general condition no problem to supply, but image shown is well representative of tiles you will get. I am very careful when selecting the pieces to my clients.

AUTHENTICITY Attention Our tiles are original antiques. For that reason you will get an exclusive product, that will differ a lot with modern reproductions. Neither the high quality enamels are reached by modern industry, nor the biscuit because it is no longer made employing hand operated dust presses .
These tiles have resisted 100 years and will resist 100 years more with superb lively colors only achieved by ancient technique production.

ORIGIN These tiles com from demolition and uninstall in our Uruguayan cities where they were used in great profusion in the early XX century. The economic boom of our cities at the beginning of the century made it possible to use large quantities of rich material that combined with a great expansion of city areas demanding of easiness and fast construction made tiling a perfect finishing material.A subsequent economic decline did preserve these gems because of low pressure over this area of real estate retained by this city many of these homes undisturbed.

CONDITION AND QUANTITIES GENERAL COMMENT As you can see on most item listings there are more than one pieces available. Condition of all others is identical to this shown. Also colors painting etc are the same with minimal imperceptible variations as these items were done in a handcrafted way.
